ANCHORAGE- Alaska State Troopers have rescued two hikers from several feet of snow on a trail near Hatcher Pass.

Spokeswoman Megan Peters says troopers located Kari Mauldin, of Wasilla, and Hannah Ramage, of Las Vegas, Monday. Rescuers flew them by helicopter to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The two, who are both 28, set out Saturday and planned to spend the night at a cabin about nine miles from the Gold Mint trailhead. They were about a mile from the cabin when they decided to return to their car because of the heavy snow.
Troopers say the heavy snow prevented rescue attempts on Sunday.
