Wasilla Man Drowns in Matanuska Lake

Alaska State troopers say a 23-year-old Wasilla man has drowned in Matanuska Lake in Palmer.

ANCHORAGE- Alaska State troopers say a 23-year-old Wasilla man has drowned in Matanuska Lake in Palmer.


Troopers say James Evangelestomp was swimming in the lake Saturday when he went under for an unknown reason and did not resurface.


Troopers say medics took Evangelestomp to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.


According to troopers, family was at the scene of the drowning.


No foul play is suspected in the death.
