PETERSBURG- Petersburg is gearing up for a new curbside recycling program.

The city already offers recycling, but residents have to sort it, and not all materials can be recycled.
The new program starts Feb. 4. Customers don't have to sort, and they can put most plastics, aluminum, tin, glass, cardboard and paper into the same bag. All they have to do is set it next to their garbage during normal pickup days.
People who do not recycle will see their collection fees rise about $5 a month. So far, about half of the city's 1,100 garbage customers are recycling.
