Juneau Mayor Bruce Botelho says his city would be a great place for the 2014 Arctic Winter Games.

Botelho is holding a meeting this Thursday at Juneau's Assembly Chambers to start planning a bid. He says the city has a variety of good venues for the games, which are being held this year in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

The biannual international games have never been hosted in Juneau. They games bring together thousands of youth competitors, coaches and performers from Russia, Greenland, Canada and Alaska for winter sports and cultural events.
