JUNEAU- A power outage in Juneau is being blamed on an untidy eagle.

Deb Ferreira of Alaska Electric, Light and Power reports that an eagle feeding on garbage Monday morning at a community landfill dropped food debris onto a transmission line.

The debris caused a short circuit that knocked out power from Lemon Creek north to the Mendenhall Valley.

Power went down at about 10:20 a.m.

About half the affected customers were back on line in 20 minutes and the rest shortly after 11 a.m.
