More than two dozen homeless programs in Alaska have won renewed Federal Funding totaling $3.5 million to keep people off the streets in 2012.
The largest of the 25 grants went to the Anchorage Community Mental Health Services. They received more than $646,000.
The funds will go towards housing rental subsides and behavioral health services.
In January, a statewide survey counted 6,460 homeless people in Alaska.
Applications are being reviewed for new projects that could receive funding early next year.
