JUNEAU- Juneau police say they're continuing to investigate a traffic accident that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

The 25-year-old man Oct. 5 was crossing Mendenhall Loop Road near the intersection with Back Loop Road when he was struck by a pickup.

Their names have not been released.

The 25-year-old driver called 911.

The driver told police the pedestrian was wearing black. There is no crosswalk at the intersection.

The pedestrian was knocked unconscious. Lt. David Campbell says an investigating officer smelled alcohol on the pedestrian and he may have been intoxicated.

The pedestrian was flown to Anchorage for treatment.

Investigators last week were attempting to reconstruct the accident and making arrangements to interview the injured man.
