A Juneau woman is charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine to buy inventory of bridal gowns and formal wear.
U.S. Attorney Karen Loeffler says Gema Thomas, 52, was arraigned in federal court in Juneau Thursday afternoon. (10/11) Prosecutors say Thomas bought the inventory of clothing for a Bridal Gowns, Formal Wear and Tuxedo Rentals business with the money made from meth sales and wants to seize all of the attire. Reports say business records show Thomas also owns and operates Peer Amid Beads and Southeast Artworks. Thomas faces a max sentence of life in prison and fine of $10,000,000 or both. Her trial is scheduled for December. |
