What began as a way to enjoy the outdoors, turned into a rehabilitation that went beyond what anybody ever realized. The project is called Project Healing Waters and there are over one hundred chapters across the nation.
Soldiers, veterans and volunteers are tying flies for fly fishing, and for art like earrings. All the proceeds go to those who are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injuries.
Officials say there are a lot of emotional scars from serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and say tying flies for fishing and art helps soldiers re-engage with civilian life, with their families and other soldiers going through the same thing.
"They started messing around with the feathers and came up with this amazing combinations and beautiful feathers,"said Laura Orr, a healing waters spokesperson. "The project helps fill in the gaps where we don't have enough funding."
If you'd like a set of earrings or help out with the cause you can contact the project on facebook at Project Healing Waters Alaska, or email them at phwalaska@gmail.com

Well that's depressing. I thought you guys would've used the footage at least, you only used the first three sentences out of Laura for this article, not to mention the terrible writing of the "news" story itself. Abc, if you want to do something, do it right. I'll make a video for you to use, instead of this badly written, vague excuse for journalism. I was so excited to get the news out about the wonderful things healing waters is doing. Sorry, but this is disgraceful, I think you could have done much better in representing a group that selflessly aids veterans and their families.
