JUNEAU- The Department of Administration is putting out feelers for office space for the Department of Transportation in Juneau.

Transportation department spokesman Jeremy Woodrow says the lease on the current space is up for renewal next year.

The Department of Administration, which handles office leasing, is seeking letters of interest from those capable of providing about 30,000 to 40,000 square feet of office space for the transportation department. The lease also would have to include parking spaces for transportation staff, client and some state vehicles.

Woodrow says the department's existing space remains an option but the state wants to see what else is out there and if it can get a better deal per square foot.

Letters of interest are due May 21.
