JUNEAU- If you're driving in Haines next week, slow down for the eagles and the people watching them.

State transportation officials are temporarily lowering the speed limit on the Haines Highway during the Alaska Bald Eagle Festival. It's going from 55 mph to 45 mph from Mile Post 17.9 to the Klukwan Road intersection.
The new speed limit is in effect from Monday through Nov. 17.
Officials warn motorists to pay attention to the new speed and to watch for parked cars and pedestrians on the side the road.
