5 rural school districts and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium will receive more than $2 million from the federal government.
The funding is part of President Obama's push to ensure that rural americans have the same access to education and medical care as urban americans.
The school districts serve primarily native students living in remote areas, that can only be reached by boat or plane. Money from the grant will go to projects like vocational training, video conference equipment, and home tele-health monitoring.
