A recent study done by the University of Alaska Anchorage Justice center, says that half of the women in Alaska have experienced Domestic or sexual violence.
In 2015 - 50 percent of women reported having been subject to violence or threats at some point in their lives.
Domestic violence in 2015 has declined by 32 percent and sexual violence saw a 33 percent drop compared to 2010.
According to experts in the field, they see the increase associated with prevention programs and more public awareness.
Alaska is ranked #1 of women being killed by men at a rate of 2 1/2 times the nation's rate.
