This weekend UAA and UAF competed in the Student Steel Bridge National Competition in Carbondale, Illinois.
UAA’s student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) took 3rd place at this year’s American Institute of Steel Construction’s Pacific Northwest Regional Steel Bridge Competition in Lacy, Washington, earning a spot at the National competition. In addition to taking 3rd place overall, UAA also took 1st place in aesthetics and 1st place in the surveying competition.
Only 44 out of 230 competing colleges are invited to participate at Nationals, and not only did UAA represent the 49th State, but UAF also earned a spot by scoring Best Overall at Regionals.
While UAA did not end up placing at Nationals, UAF did manage to score 3rd place in Structural Efficiency. Congratulations to both UAF and UAA on your hard work and dedication!
