The Alaska Anchorage men’s and women’s basketball programs announced their respective 2009-10 schedules Wednesday, including a combined total of 31 home games.

The Seawolf women will take on Hawaii-Hilo on Nov. 15-16 in the first action of the year at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. The 32nd annual Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout follows over Thanksgiving, and the UAA men take the WFSC court for the first time Dec. 19 when they host the AT&T Jamboree.

Here is a quick breakdown of both slates:

WOMEN

The two-time defending NCAA Div. II West Region champions kick things off in style with a Nov. 8 exhibition game against Division I power Duke in Durham, N.C., followed by their home openers against Hilo the next week.

After chasing their fourth straight Shootout title Nov. 24-25 against Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati and Western Carolina at the Sullivan Arena, UAA will return to the WFSC to host the inaugural AT&T Classic (BYU-Hawaii, Grand Canyon, UAF) Dec. 11-12, plus a series against Western State on Dec. 19-20.

Coach Tim Moser’s squad will have a Dec. 5 neutral-court meeting against Nyack (N.Y.) in Fairbanks, and will make a late December trip to Honolulu to visit Chaminade for a pair of games.

The 16-game Great Northwest Athletic Conference schedule starts Jan. 7 at Central Washington, with the first of eight GNAC home games set for Jan. 14 against Montana State Billings.

MEN

UAA faces NAIA foe American Sports University in San Bernardino, Calif., to begin the season Nov. 11. After an exhibition against D-I Long Beach State, the Seawolves will fly to Honolulu for a single game against Hawaii Pacific on Nov. 17.

The home slate begins Nov. 25 with the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, featuring pre-slated games with Washington State and Nicholls State, and a matchup against either Oklahoma, San Diego or Houston on the final day.

The Seawolves return to D-II competition against Texas A&M-International and Grand Canyon, Dec. 11-12 at the Glacier Classic in Fairbanks, then make their WFSC debut against Western New Mexico and Chaminade in the AT&T Jamboree, Dec. 19-20.

The non-league schedule concludes with NAIA Trinity International on Dec. 30-31, followed by a weeklong break before the GNAC season begins Jan. 9 with a home game against Montana State Billings.
