A Valdez man reeled in one big fish recently taking the lead in the Valdez Halibut Derby, and perhaps, landing him in the record books.
Avid Fisherman George Levasseur spent a little over an hour and fifteen minutes landing a 363.9lb halibut. Levasseur says it also required four guys to get the fish over the rail and into the boat. With his big catch, Levasseur takes the overall lead in the derby and will win $15,000 if his halibut stays in the lead through the end of the derby on Sunday, September 5th.
