U.N. Panel Passes Resolution On Online Privacy
A U.N. panel brings forth a resolution to protect online privacy
UNITED NATIONS- Is online privacy a basic human right? A U.N. panel thinks so.
And so, the U.N. General Assembly's human rights committee has adopted a resolution that protects the right against unlawful surveillance online.
The resolution was sponsored by Brazil and Germany. And it comes after a series of disclosures of U.S. eavesdropping on foreign leaders, including the heads of those two nations.
The resolution is symbolic is nature - and so it isn't binding - and comes with no penalties for violators.
