Saturday evening, Feb. 12, 2011 the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on the UAA Campus was packed with anxious husbands, friends and family members as women from across Alaska competed for the title of Mrs. Alaska during the Mrs. Alaska-America Pageant.
After a three hour event consisting of several on-stage productions to include a physical fitness segment, evening gown presentation where the ladies were escorted by their husbands and interviews with a prestigious panel of judges, the ultimate prize and title of Mrs. Alaska America 2011 went to Sarah Smith Dickson …mother of 8-year old Elizabeth Ashley Smith and 8 month old Kaitlyn Olivia Dickson. Sarah is the wife of Matthew Dickson make Eagle River, Alaska their home.
Sarah has called Alaska her home her entire life having graduated from Robert Service High School and attending the University of Alaska, Anchorage.
Sarah will be on her way to the Mrs. America Pageant to represent Alaska at the 35th annual celebration of Mrs. America starting March 31, 2011 in White Sulpher Springs West Virginia at the famous 5-Star Greenbrier Resort. She will be there for two weeks of events and rehearsal leading up to the Mrs. America Pageant to be telecast over Mother’s Day weekend.
Sarah will also be making personal appearances throughout Alaska during her year’s reign, speaking for and to Alaska’s largest and most important constituency, its married women.
