The National Association of Purchasing Management-Alaska (NAPM-Alaska) has won the prestigious “Affiliate of the Year” award from the Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) based on its accomplishments in affiliate growth, educational offerings, and contribution to the supply management profession in Alaska. NAPM-Alaska is the Alaska affiliate of ISM and was chosen as the best from some 155 ISM affiliates worldwide. ISM currently has approximately 37,000 members in affiliates in the U.S., Canada, China, Mexico, India and several European countries. Headquartered in Anchorage, NAPM-Alaska represents Purchasing and Supply Management professionals serving both government and private sector industries throughout Alaska.
NAPM-Alaska President, Sonja Love-Hestnes expressed pleasure of the news by saying: “On behalf of all the NAPM-Alaska board members and affiliate members, we are very honored to receive the Affiliate of the Year award for 2011. The NAPM-Alaska board members, the veterans and the new, all have the same goal in mind – “to educate, develop, and advance the purchasing and supply management profession in the last frontier”. The board of directors strives to surpass past achievements and are continually trying to improve on what the affiliate has to offer all the members. The Affiliate Excellence criteria is used not to achieve an award, but as a guideline and benchmark for who we are and what we can become. I want to especially thank all the board members for their contributions, without their dedication this award would not have been possible.”
Despite the downturn in the economy, NAPM-Alaska has shown steady growth for the past 5 years. A Board of Directors made up of extremely dedicated volunteers, members dedicated to their profession coupled with high quality educational programs and networking opportunities appear to be the key ingredients to success. Anyone interested in the Purchasing and Supply Management field is welcome to join.
