Alaska Troopers Investigate Disturbance

On August 9 at approximately 9:32 pm, Alaska state troopers responded to a report that a man and woman exited a black SUV and began fighting on church road near Shampine Lane.

investigation revealed that 27-year-old Nova Arvin and 29-year-old Luc Mackie had an argument while Mackie was driving. Mackie got out of the vehicle to walk away and Arvin got in the driver’s seat to pursue him before she exited to engage Mackie on the side of the road.

Investigation further revealed that both were under the influence of substances other than alcohol and both were subsequently arrested for DUI. A search incident to arrest revealed a 9mm pistol in the open glove box of the SUV.

Arvin was issued a summons for DUI and misconduct involving weapons fourth degree and released on her own recognizance. Mackie was charged with DUI, misconduct involving weapons fourth degree, and felony misconduct involving weapons 3rd degree due to a previous felony conviction.

He was remanded to Mat-Su pretrial facility and held on no bail.
