Anchorage Assembly Overrides Veto

Mayor Dave Bronson had plenty to say after the Anchorage assembly voted to override one of his vetoes.

It all has to do with an ordinance passed last month by the assembly that would allow city lawmakers to remove a mayor from office for what the assembly calls a breach of public trust.

Bronson vetoed the ordinance and yesterday the assembly decided to override it.

He calls the move a partisan effort to attack the executive branch. Mayor Bronson went on to say, “no mayor present or future, should be subject to a coup by an assembly that doesn’t agree with their politics.”
