Duplex Fire Results in One Death

A duplex fire erupted early Saturday morning in the Jewel Lake area, leaving one dead.  Anchorage Fire Department’s public information officer said The cause of the fire at the 9200 block of Jewel Lake Road just south of Dimond Boulevard, is still under investigation. Dispatchers received multiple reports of a building fire, beginning at 1:29 AM with the first unit arriving at 1:33 a.m.  More units were dispatched after it was known a resident was trapped in the home. Sixteen total units were dispatched to the duplex. The fire was under control an hour later at 2:33 a.m.
