Giving Tuesday Prep

Giving Tuesday is almost here. If you’re looking for ways to give back to your community, this is your day. Your Alaska Link’s Ian Stewart caught up with some of the organizations looking forward to the special day.

Tis the season to be giving. Giving Tuesday is tomorrow a special day to be extra charitable to your nonprofit organizations. Starting in 2012, Giving Tuesday started in the United States and has since gone worldwide. And for some organizations like Junior Achievement, it could be a really great help.

“So Giving Tuesday is a wonderful opportunity to donate to causes that are important to you. Junior Achievement is one of those causes. We don’t receive any government funding, so events like Giving Tuesday are very important to us.”

And it’s a great opportunity for them to get their name out there.

“Junior Achievement is very important to our community and to our kids and just seeing them get excited about our programs, that’s really important as well.”

Bean’s Cafe is another nonprofit organization that has had some experience and Giving Tuesday.

“I think in a perfect world for nonprofits it’s presenting us with an opportunity to raise even more money than than we might on an average day of giving.”

And for Bean’s Cafe, it’s just a great experience to be a part of.

“When you know that you’re just one organization of hundreds of thousands across the world that are making efforts to do big things in the community that you live in.”

And while any day you can be charitable, you can participate in Giving Tuesday and donate to your favorite nonprofit organization.
