Governor Dunleavy Commends Good Samaritan and Alaska State Trooper

Today Governor Dunleavy commended a good samaritan and an Alaska State Trooper for a rescue on July 29th of this year.

I want to commend you for your selfless actions on July 29, 2021 for providing life saving support to wildlife trooper Lori as she was attempting to save the 12 year old child being swept away in the Kenai River.

The quality of your character was made evident in the moment you recognized what was happening to both the child and to Trooper Reed. Without hesitation, you quickly ran to the shoreline with your getnet to help pull them safely back to the shore for that act of instincts.

I extend my deepest gratitude. Your actions serve as an incredible example of the true Alaskan spirit. Please accept my appreciation on behalf of Alaskans for your courageous actions and my sincere respect for elevating the well-being of others above your own.

So I just want to thank you very much. Thank you, Mr. Trooper Reid’s quick response, an extraordinary performance of duty in a hazardous situation contributed to saving a life that day. No doubt she went above and beyond the call of duty and voluntarily risked her own life while exhibiting extraordinary bravery.

Her actions reflect great credit upon herself. The Division of Alaska Wildlife Troopers, the Department of Public Safety and the State of Alaska. And again, thank you for your part in that. Congratulations. Good job.
