JBER Veteran’s Day

Folks across the nation — and the last the frontier — honor military service members on this Veteran’s Day. Your Alaska Link’s La’shawn Donelson was on hand for the annual ceremony at JBER.

Veterans Day is a day to remember the lives of women and men who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. This Veterans and Remembrance Day ceremony was held at JBER to honor all who have served our country and to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in uniform. Those still serving believe this day is all about understanding our freedoms.

“To everyone to understand we have the freedoms that we have because of those who have come before. And I want to show my personal and professional respect to those people, everyone who’s raised their hand, everyone who has served in uniform. I sincerely appreciate what they have done.”

The veterans who attended today’s ceremony at JBER are grateful for the tribute.

“Actually celebrate and honor those that have come before me. And it means a lot to me to remember those who have served that have come before me and those that are coming behind me.”

“To honor like they’ve spoken all day. Of those who stood up and raised their hand and said, Hey, I’m willing to do whatever it takes from our forefathers till now. I mean, the tradition never ends.”

“With other veterans to talk to each other, just basic camaraderie.”

“People to try and overcome confusion and reinstate confusion with love for the law.”

Just about everyone who attended seemed to truly appreciate the service of our veterans.

“Hearing how so many decades and centuries of veterans have shared have shared experiences. And it just reminds me of like what today means for a lot of us.”

It was certainly a day to say thank you to all the men and women who served our country and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
