Jess Lee Home For Children Spooky Roots

Keeping in line with Halloween, Joint base Elmendorf Richardson has posted yet another spooky location.

The Jesse Lee Home For Children has quite the history, and spooky aesthetic.

Although Seward began demolition of the home in November of 2020, the site itself has been unused for more than five decades and still holds historic value for the community.

The Jesse Lee Home was originally founded in Unalaska and later moved to Seward where it experienced a pandemic, WWII, and one of Alaska’s most devastating earthquakes of its time.

It was also where the Alaska State Flag was born.
