Large Steel Bridge Proposed in Denali National Park

A government agency is proposing a large steel bridge along a segment of Denali National Park and Preserve’s only road, which authorities say has been fast deteriorating due to climate change.

In late August, about half of the largely gravel road that runs through the park was blocked to buses and other recreational traffic, and similar traffic will be limited to mile 43 this year as well.
The National Park Service stated that without a bridge, that area will remain restricted indefinitely.
On Thursday, the National Park Service released an environmental evaluation that describes two phases of proposed work. The park service is accepting public opinions on the review through February 13th.
