Search & Rescue deployed for Missing Hikers

On September 11 around 9:35 pm, the Alaska state troopers received a request for a search and rescue off the Mount Baldy trailhead in eagle river for two 20-year-old women.

Both had gone hiking on the trailhead and had become separated. The state search and rescue coordinator was notified and Matsar search and rescued was requested for a ground search.

After an approximate 4-hour search of the trailhead up towards black tail peak, one of the females was located safe and is back down off the trail.

On September 12 around 11:00 a.m. the missing woman reported that she made it to a roadway in the Birchwood area. She reported no injuries.
