Travel Tuesday | Roller Coasters

For this week’s Travel Tuesday…we’re checking out my favorite amusement park roller coasters…
roller coasters have become instruments of adrenaline – Whether they’re sending us upside down, zooming us over a course at 150 miles per hour, or making us scream as our stomachs drop with each fall; here’s my top picks for the best summer rides:

at the top of the list is Formula Rossa at Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi
When it comes to speed, no other coaster in the world can compare with Formula Rossa. Developed to resemble a Ferrari sportscar, this roller coaster is the fastest in the world. It launches riders from zero to 150 miles per hour in five seconds. The ride only lasts a minute and a half, but it’s one of the most hard-pounding 90 seconds you can experience on a roller coaster anywhere on the planet.

For your Harry Potter Fans, you’ve got to check out Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal Studios.
This ride takes guests on a thrilling flight through the Forbidden Forest on the grounds of Hogwarts Castle. The coaster features seven launches, more than any other coaster in the world, as well as a free-fall vertical drop.

The Phoenix at Knoebels in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, is a classic wooden roller coaster that proves that newer, taller and faster aren’t always better. Consistently ranked as one of the best wooden coasters in the country, Phoenix offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills, as well as thrills in the form of a double out-and-back layout and speeds of 45 miles per hour.

Interested in riding 465 feet straight toward the sky and then descending at a rapid clip? Then the Kingda Ka roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, is for you. Kingda Ka is the fastest roller coaster in the United States, going from zero to 128 miles per hour in only 3.5 seconds. To reach its crazy-fast speed in a matter of mere seconds, the Six Flags ride uses a hydraulic launch system to launch you up the rails 45 stories high, at a 90-degree angle.

That’s it for now, I’m Katelyn O’Shaughnessy… join me next week for another Travel Tuesday.
